Chain Reaction – Cleaning Up The Islands With Kai Lenny

In the June 2017 issue of Surfer magazine Kai Lenny was referred to as a “jack of all trades” who had mastered all. This description of Lenny’s ability in the water is fitting. He’s a virtuoso on every type of surf craft in every set of conditions the ocean produces. Lenny has competed on the WSL Big Wave Tour, won numerous SUP world titles, attacked Jaws on a tow board with complete abandon, and paddled the Molokai-Oahu interisland crossing multiple times.

His most recent island chain crossing was the center of a campaign to raise awareness about pollution in the ocean. Teaming up with Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii and 5 Gyres, he and a crew traveled through the Hawaiian islands, stopping to pick up trash and spotlight the bigger issue of plastic pollution along the way. Watch the video below to see how the adventure unfolded.
