“Everything Under The Sun” – Jeff Canham Art Show At Mollusk SF

“I’m a graphic designer, artist, sign painter, and some kind of combination of all three of those things…” – Jeff Canham –

If you surf or pay attention to graphic design, chances are pretty high that you’ve encountered Jeff Canham’s art. He was Art Director at Surfer Magazine from 2000 to 2005 before moving to San Francisco and shifting focus to the art of creating hand painted signs. Canham worked with New Bohemia Signs and Mollusk Surf Shop since that time while also exhibiting work in museums and galleries around the world.

Elaborately themed bird houses, hand painted words with drop shadows thoughtfully arranged on wood paneling, and ocean based symbols such as waves, flags, and suns account for some of the content you’ll find in his work. It’s as if a typesetter’s leash was cut and he took off through an urban landscape, stamping his style on storefronts and gallery walls.

Canham’s art will be exhibited in a show titled Everything Under The Sun at Mollusk Surf Shop in San Francisco this month with an opening reception on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. According to the Mollusk website it will include “a special music guest, beverages, and excellent community vibrations” as well as “Canham’s newest collection of surf-centric sculptures and paintings.”
