Mick Fanning Surfing Under The Aurora Borealis

Three time world champion, Mick Fanning, is no stranger to surf travel and adventure. He’s spanned the globe countless times following the world tour and scrutinizing the planet for amazing surf line-ups. His latest mission, though, brings something unique to the table – surfing under the Aurora Borealis.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), “The Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) and Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) are the result of electrons colliding with the upper reaches of Earth’s atmosphere.” The visual effect is a cloud like accumulation of colorful lights pulsing in the sky. Surfing bucket list? It looks pretty amazing if a bit icy. But why not – it would definitely be a session you’ll never forget.
