Patagonia Sets Another Example, Raises $150,000 For Punta De Lobos

Inflatable vests are changing the big wave surf game in more ways than one. Not only do PSI (Personal Surf Inflation) Vests help save lives, but now, thanks to Patagonia, they’re also helping to preserve iconic big wave surf spots like Punta De Lobos.

Last February Patagonia opened up their patented PSI Vest technology to other companies in exchange for a fee that would go towards environmental causes. This effort allowed them to make a $150,000 donation to Fundacion Punta De Lobos, an organization aiming to “conserve the beauty and marine biodiversity, protect the enviroment, ensure its preservation, and develop community practices associated with traditions, fishing and surf.”

This innovative approach by Patagonia is yet another example of how it’s possible to make a positive impact through thoughtful business practices. While $150,000 is significant, it’s only a drop in the ocean compared to what can be done. To date the company has raised over $89 million dollars for conservation projects around the world.
