Fantastic And Proactive

What do you get when you cross sustainable surfboards, wetsuits, boardshorts, and hand planes with a gallery space, artistic expression and positive intentions? A new show entitled “From Plastic to Fantastic” presented by Surfing Heritage And Culture Center (SHACC) and Sustainable Surf.

The show features a variety of surf related items produced from recycled and sustainable materials. From neoprene free wetsuits created by Patagonia, to surfboards from Lost… made from recycled foam and a vegitation-based resin, to traction pads by ReCork produced from recycled cork, the exhibit offers a peek at new surf industry manufacturing possibilities.

The show is not only interesting to witness, but also interactive. As it states on the SHACC website:

“We’ve teamed up with Sustainable Surf and their Waste to Waves program and are inviting all SHACC visitors to help ACTIVATE  the “From Plastic to Fantastic” exhibit, by bringing in their own “trash” (otherwise known as a resource…) to be upcycled or recycled into your next piece of surf gear. Resources (clean) to be collected at SHACC from August 27 through the end of November: styrofoam packaging, wine corks, wetsuits and kiteboard sails.”

The exhibit runs through November 26, 2016.

SHACC is located at 110 Calle Iglesia, San Clemente, California
